Janapada Varsity Bill approved

BANGALORE  The Legislative Council passed the Karnataka Janapada Vishwavidyalaya Bill, 2011, to provide for the establishment of the first-ever folk university in the state. Minister Dr V S Achayra informed that the proposed folk university will provide for higher education and research in all subjects of folklore literature, such as art, music, theatre, handicrafts, folk medicine and cottage industries. The university will come up at Gotagodi village of Shiggavi taluk in Haveri.
