CHENNAI: Making an earnest appeal to agitating people of the border areas not to precipitate the situation, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Sunday announced that a special session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly would be convened on December 15 to express solidarity of the people of the State on Mullaiperiyar dam issue.“A resolution that Tamil Nadu will not give up our rights over Mullaiperiyar because of imaginary threats to the safety and security of Mullaiperiyar dam will be adopted at the special session,” the CM said in a statement here. “I appeal to all of you to allow your government to handle the issue scientifically and logically. It is my earnest appeal to all the agitating people of the border areas not to precipitate the situation and to disperse immediately,” she said and added, “I am one with you and share the same emotions and strongly believe in peace and prosperity for my people and the country.”
