London: A cosmetic advertisement featuring actress Julia Roberts has been banned in Britain after it was digitally altered to make her look flawless.

The advertisement was banned after a Liberal Democrat MP, Jo Swinson, complained about the amount of airbrushing used on the image, contactmusic.com reported.

Swinson claimed the commercial gave a "false impression of beauty".

The "Pretty Woman" star appears in the campaign for Teint Miracle foundation by Lancome, which is owned by L'Oreal, and bosses claim the product "recreates the aura of perfect skin".

Officials at the Advertising Standards Authority have removed the ad after branding the images misleading.
