CHITRADURGA: The body of former minister K H Ranganath (86) was laid to rest with full state honours at his farm house at Hiriyur taluk on Wednesday. The body of the senior Congressman, who passed away on Tuesday, was wrapped in the tricolour and placed at the Nehru Maidan, enabling public to pay their last respects. The body was taken to his native village Hosa Yelanadu where elaborate arrangements for the cremation were made. Police personnel of the district armed reserve gave a 21-gun salute as a mark of respect to the departed leader. KPCC president G Parameshwar, leader of the Opposition in the state legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah, former CM Dharam Singh, MP H Vishwanath and top congress leaders took part in the cremation. KPCC president G Parameshwar said, “Ranganath has left a rich tradition of non-corrupt governance, which should be followed by us. We have a lot to learn from his life. He added that, “As a minister, Ranganath never compromised on anything and was never involved in any controversy.”
