Kolkata: Fasting for Navratri, actress Kangana Ranaut on Monday asserted that as a woman she connects with goddess Durga. And the relationship only deepens through her profession which sees her in a variety of roles.
"When you play a character...being a woman... you have to understand the nine forms (of the goddess) have to surface out of you...and that helps you connect with the goddess and it's easier as an artist," Kangana said.
The 26-year-old made her debut in 2006 with Anurag Basu's 'Gangster - A Love Story' and won the National Award for best supporting actress for her performance as a troubled model in the 2008 release 'Fashion'.
Kangana, who is looking forward to the release of 'Krrish 3', emphasised on her link with Bengali culture and says she won't mind featuring in a Bengali film on goddess Durga.
"My first director Anurag Basu is a Bengali. So I have very strong connection with West Bengal...he introduced me to all the Bengali cuisine, culture and the word 'bhalo' (good in Bengali)," said the actress.
"So I really feel very connected...so if a Bengali director makes a film based on Durga puja, then yes, I would love to do," she added.
She was here for the opening of Adrija Jewellery showroom.
