Generally, marriages get cancelled due to many reasons like demand for dowry, the bride or the groom running away with their ex and others. But in Karnataka’s Somwarpet, the groom made a lot of fuss and took off the ring stating that he did not want to marry the bride as her family did not serve sweets to the groom’s family.
As per reports, the marriage of a young woman from Hanagallu village and a man from Tumakuru, aka, Tumkur city was fixed on May 5. Before the wedding day, the groom’s side demanded a dowry from the bride’s family. The family also alleged that the groom’s family has demanded gold and land in Bengaluru.
A few days before D-day, the soon-to-be-wed couple were introduced to each other and the family fixed their marriage. But on the day of the wedding, a small commotion erupted and it was known that the groom’s side of the family was not served with sweets in the meal. The incident led to the families arriving at the police station and right at the steps the groom removed his ring saying he did not want to marry. Fed up with the incident, the bride called off the wedding.
In a similar yet bizarre incident, in the Channapatna area of Ramanagara district, about 50 fell sick after eating ice cream at a wedding. The guests were vomiting and had diarrhoea-like conditions. Such was the condition that they had to be shifted to Mandya and Ramanagara District Hospital.
Near Sathanur Circle in the Channapatna area, a wedding ceremony was held. After serving biryani to all the guests who attended the wedding, ice cream was arranged. After half an hour of eating the ice cream, guests began vomiting and began suffering from loose motions.
As per reports, the reason for almost everyone falling sick was found to be the serving of expired ice cream. The doctor who treated the patients has clarified that there is no cause for worry. Further, doctors have warned people not to eat ice cream or cool drinks at a wedding ceremony.
