A village in the state of Karnataka is making headlines for its stand to save government schools in the region. As per the reports of Local18, a lot of government schools in the state are facing shutdowns due to parents preferring the private institutions for their kids. Due to the prevalence of private schools in Karnataka, government schools are being neglected by the citizens. Going by the reports of Local18, these private schools send their buses to each and every corner of a place, so as to attract parents and children for enrolment. While the parents are choosing the private schools because they want their children to be fluent in English. This village in Mandya is known for its boycott of private schools. The village is called Madegowdanakoppalu. The initiative of the villagers to promote government school education as well as the Kannada language is being deemed as an inspiration for the whole state.

To save the government school and in their village and Kannada language preservation, the citizens have unanimously decided not to enrol their children to a private school.

According to more information by Local18, for over two decades, not a single child from this village was admitted to a convent school. No private school vehicle has ever entered the area. The villagers state the government has provided quality education and basic amenities to their kids. To this day, they prefer to get their children to study only here. Currently, over 20 children are enrolled at the place. The alumni of the place are working in places like Bengaluru and Mysore. Local18 states that they have joined hands with the government to save the institutions in the village.
