KCR pressures Telangana Congress leaders to quit
There are signals emanating from Delhi that it is in no mood to consider a separate state in AP in the near future...

HYDERABAD: On a day which saw heightened political activity on Telangana and other fronts, Congress camps got active both in Hyderabad and in Delhi even as the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) pitched for revival of the T agitation.  With signals clearly emanating from Delhi that it is in no mood to consider a Telangana state in the near future, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao got into the act and drove down to the residence of Minister K Jana Reddy for a meeting with T Congress leaders.  MPs Gutta Sukhender Reddy, G Vivek, K Rajagopal Reddy and S Rajaiah were closeted with KCR and other TRS leaders for many hours. Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao, who returned from the US late in the night, joined the deliberations.  Apparently, KCR’s intention behind the latest move stems from a feeling that the statehood agitation cannot be revived in a manner that would rattle Delhi unless ruling partymen also join hands. KCR’s suggestion to Congress leaders was that they should immediately resign to bring pressure on the party. But Gutta Sukhender Reddy indicated their state of mind when he said that they will not go by agenda set by others and will formulate their own strategy on July 1.  Even as Delhi kept a close tabs on what was happening at Jana Reddy’s residence, divisions among the Congress MPs on the course of action came to the fore yet again. MPs Manda Jagannadham and Sarve Satyanarayana, both camping in Delhi, made it clear that there was no question of quitting the Lok Sabha. They also clarified that they had not set any deadline for the party high command to consider statehood for Telangana.
