New Delhi: Relatives of Rajendra Gampa, a Hyderabad resident arrested in the human trafficking case allegedly involving BJP MP Babubhai Katara, were interrogated by a team of Delhi Police officials on Sunday in Hyderabad.
Babubhai Katara was caught at Delhi’s IGI Airport on Wednesday while trying to take one Paramjeet through immigrations and on to Canada on his wife Shardaben Katara's passport no 1100962.
The MP got caught out at immigrations who found that the picture on his wife's passport didn't match Paramjeet's face.
In the Sunday’s raid, Delhi Police officials seized some important documents, including forged passports after questioning Gampa's wife, children and brothers residing in Siddi Ambarbazar area in Hyderabad, police said.
The Delhi police team also searched a wedding cards shop owned by Gampa Brothers in Genera Bazaar area of Secunderabad.
Delhi Police had arrested Gampa, his sister Kiran Dhar and Sundarlal Yadav on Saturday for their alleged association with Katara.
Police claimed that Gampa and Yadav were the middlemen between the travel agents and the MP and introduced "prospective clients".
Besides looking after documentation process, Kiran's job was to train the clients to dodge immigration officials, police said.
Yadav in his confession before the court had named three MPs Mohammad Tahir Khan (BSP), Mitrasen Yadav of SP and Ramswaroop Koli of BJP and late parliamentarian Ram Awadh as alleged part of the trafficking racket.
He had also named one Murthy, reportedly the then personal secretary of Telengana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief and former union minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, in this case.
