HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has invited all members of the Congress Coordination Committee to the meeting to shortlist a candidate to be fielded in the Adilabad Assembly by-election caused by the resignation of TDP’s Jogu Ramanna.This is a departure from the earlier practice of holding discussions with the PCC president and people’s representatives from the districts where by-elections are due.The CCC members who attended the meeting were: Botcha Satyanarayana, former PCC president D Srinivas, former minister Md Ali Shabber besides in-charge minister Basavaraju Saraiah, MLAs Atram Sakku and A Maheswar Reddy, MLC K Prema Sagar Rao and hundreds of party workers. After addressing the party workers, the group of leaders invited the probable candidates and discussed with them their winning prospects.The chief minister told the party workers that he had explained to the Centre about sentiment of Telangana people. “The government sanctioned  6.5 lakh ration and built 3 lakhs houses in Adilabad district.’’He said winning of the by-election would not come about if the voter was not brought to the polling both and asked the party workers to create awareness among people on government’s developmental programmes.Kiran Kumar Reddy said 52 model schools were sanctioned for each mandal in Adilabad district. Under Indiara Jala Prabha, irrigation water is being provided to one lakh acres in the district by spending Rs 160 crore.He advised district party leaders to conduct meetings mandal-wise in the constituency to select a suitable candidate for the by-election and also to prepare an action plan for the constituency. Deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said many developmental programmes were being taken up in the state.
