Now the varsity is not getting any UGC fund. We are attempting to get the 12B status of UGC,” said K Babu, Fisheries and Excise Minister.The infrastructure work will commence soon. The ‘bhoomipooja’ for the academic block was done on Tuesday. The total estimate of the project is Rs 60 crore.“It is the first time the government is sanctioning plan fund for specific purpose. Rs 5 crore has been earmarked for infrastructure, Rs 3 crore for education, Rs 2 crore for research, Rs 1 crore for administration and Rs 1 crore for extension.“As this is a Five-Year Plan fund, assistance will be given for the next four years also,” said KUFOS Registrar Abraham Joseph.
