KUFOS V-C likely to be reverted to Cusat

KOCHI: The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) syndicate has withdrawn its order sending B Madhusoodhana Kurup, Director, School of Industrial Fisheries, on deputation to the post of Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS).With this move, he is likely to be reverted to his former post at the School of Industrial Fisheries at the Cusat.“Based on a report from the Finance Department regarding fund anomalies by the KUFOS Vice-Chancellor, the Syndicate has decided to cancel the ratification of his deputation made on December 28, 2011,” said Syndicate member Mujeeb.This will be communicated to the government  after the next sitting of the sub-committee, he said. Based on the sub-committee report, the government will take further decisions,” said M Sherif, joint secretary of Department of Higher Education.A sub-committee was constituted at the previous Syndicate to probe the alleged financial irregularities. It reported that Kurup had not accounted for the `1.29 crore received from the varsity for various purposes before being relieved from his post at Cusat. There were issues regarding his relieving order also.
