One significant station in the Asansol Division is set to undergo a transformation soon. The Amrit Bharat project is giving Kumardubi Station, located in the Asansol Division, a fresh makeover, according to reports. The renovation work is already underway. Once completed, Kumardubi Station will offer passengers a range of modern amenities, enhancing their overall comfort. The renovation efforts are focused on making the station more passenger-friendly. The station holds significant importance in the coal region and is strategically located on the New Delhi-Howrah chord line. Additionally, it serves as a vital hub in the industrial and coal mining areas. Several key trains stop at this station daily, and many passengers use it to travel to Howrah for work and business. It also connects people from different parts of the country to this region. Kumardubi Station is situated in Jharkhand’s Nirsa Block.
As part of the Amrit Bharat project, Indian Railways is planning to renovate several stations within the Eastern Railway, including Kumardubi Station. Eastern Railway has even released a visual representation of what the station will look like post-renovation. The makeover aims not only to beautify the station, but also to improve passenger convenience. A large entrance will be built, along with separate restrooms for differently-abled passengers.
To meet passenger needs, the station will feature an air-conditioned waiting hall, and modern restrooms will be constructed separately for men and women. A 456-square-metre parking area will also be developed on the station premises. Ramps will be provided for easier access, and the platforms will be redesigned with more comfortable seating. Once completed, the station will offer various amenities, including free Wi-Fi, a One Station One Product kiosk, and more. Special attention will be given to maintaining cleanliness, and improvements will be made to the station’s passenger information system and executive lounge.
