KOZHIKODE: Former Minister K K Ramachandran Master has urged the state government to bring legislation to take over the controversial 16.75 acres of land of M V Shreyams Kumar MLA in Kalpetta.Speaking to the media persons here on Monday, he said the state government should bring legislation to take over all the encroached land including the land with Tata Tea Estate and Harrison Malayalam Plantations. The new legislation should be brought under the ninth schedule of the Constitution.Lashing out at his political opponent Shreyams Kumar MLA,  Ramachandran Master said that Shreyams Kumar was going to be a ‘burden’ for the UDF, as the LDF in Wayanad had been planning a  series of protests against his land encroachment. He further said the High Court, while delivering the verdict on June 1, had staunchly criticised the MLA for encroaching the land.Oommen Chandy, in 2005, during the legislative Assembly session, had made it clear that the government repossessed the land encroached by Shreyams Kumar, he said. The former Achuthandandan government also had taken a stand that the land belonged to the government. Even the High Court has made it clear that he has encroached the land hence the government should take measures to legally take over it, said Ramachandran Master. When asked about persons involved in corruption cases holding ministerial posts, he said it would portray the government in bad light. He also criticised the government’s decision to transfer the police officials involved in the investigation.
