THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It seems the investigating skills of the State police are no match for the 23-year-old fugitive on the run, Sabarinath. Still having no clue about the whereabouts of the high profile money swindler even after three months after he went absconding, the Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CBCID) of the police has issued a lookout notice in his name. The lookout notice is on the basis of a man-missing case registered at the Neyyattinkara police station. The case was registered following a complaint filed by his mother Jalajambika. Since he was out on bail, he had strict instructions to follow the procedures and mark his attendance at the station regularly, to make sure he did not flee the district. However, just relying on the procedures proved costly for the police as Sabarinath went missing from March onwards. Meanwhile, according to sources, there had been no major efforts on the part of the police to track down the youngster, who had allegedly cheated his investors of over ` 200 crore. The probe was confined to the jurisdiction of Neyyattinkara police alone. Investigation never took off outside the State or even outside the district. A senior police officer with the CBCID says that the investigation charge was still with the Neyyattinkara police and never handed over to a higher and more efficient investigating agency. However, the investigating officers are sure that Sabarinath has not fled the country as the police had earlier seized his passport and produced it before the court. Sabarinath is the prime accused in the controversial Total 4 U case, perhaps one of the first of the series of money chain multi-level marketing frauds to be exposed in the State in 2008. After being imprisoned for about a year, Sabarinath was let off on bail, only to be arrested again on charges of immoral trafficking for alleged sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl. His disappearance has also put some of his investors, who furnished bail bonds worth ` 45 lakh before the court, in trouble as he had promised them to return their investment as soon as he got out. The Crime Branch police have urged the people to inform the Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Thiruvananthapuram on the phone numbers 9497996952 and 9497990186 respectively of any information about him.
