Bangalore: Karnataka has voted with a vengeance and ousted the Congress. Out of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies, the Congress has managed to win only eight seats - Bangalore Rural, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Gulbarga, Kolar, Raichur, Tumkur. Two are with the JDS, while the rest 18 are with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Important winners include Ananth Kumar from Bangalore South, DV Sadananda Gowda from Bangalore North, BS Yeddyurappa from Shimoga, KH Muniyappa from Kolar, HD Devegowda from Hassan, Mallikarjun Kharge from Gulbarga, Prahlad Joshi from Dharwad and B Sriramulu from Bellary.
Bangalore South witnessed a fight between Ananth Kumar and Congress's Nandan Nilekani who lost by a huge margin of 228575 votes.
Karnataka is led by a Congress government under Siddaramaiah. The defeat will be a major embarrassment for the party and a tough lesson as well.
