Madras Week: Rare painting exhibition begins

CHENNAI: A special exhibition of rare paintings comprising some of landmarks of Madras, is being held at the Hotel Ambassador Pallava, to mark the celebrations of Madras Week.The exhibition aims to highlight the 300-plus year history of the city.The exhibition, which is being held at  La Galerie D’Expression at Ambassador Pallava, promises to capture the cultural heritage of the city in its truest form.The painting exhibition is part of the Madras Week celebrations, centred around Madras Day that falls on August 22.  The celebrations are expected to capture the city’s ancient past that has grown in grandeur over the past decade. It would also highlight the recent years that saw the growth of hotels, restaurants, tourism, businesses and civil society groups.
