Maharashtra: 14 college students drown off Murud beach in Raigad
The Coast Guard said around 15-18 students were washed into the sea.

Raigad: Fourteen college students, who were on a college trip, have drowned off the popular Murud-Janjira beach in Maharashtra's Raigad district. They were second and third year BCS students at Inamdar College.

Five students have been rescued from the choppy waters while one is still missing.

The students were part of an 126-strong picnic group from Inamdar College in Pune. They had gone to Murud in three buses and were accompanied by eight teaching and nine non-teaching staff members.

The incident took place around 4:30 PM. The Coast Guard said around 15-18 students were washed into the sea.

The Coast Guard, police and locals are engaged in rescue operations. The Coast Guard craft IC 117, two hired fishing boats have been deployed for search operation.
