Manu's counsel to plead for leniency
The HC will pronounce the quantum of punishment for Jessica Lall murder convicts on December 20.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court, which convict Manu Sharma and two others in the sensational Jessica Lall murder case, will pronounce the quantum of punishment for the three on Wednesday, December 20.

The court has also found co-accused Vikas Yadav and Amardeep Gill guilty, while acquitting five others.

Manu Sharma has been convicted under Section 302 of the IPC, the Arms Act and also on charges of destruction of evidence. Under this Section, the maximum punishment could be death penalty or life imprisonment. The defence team also said that it will appeal in the Supreme Court against the verdict.

Manu Sharma's lawyers said on Wednesday that they will plead for minimum punishment for Manu. "We will plead for minimum sentence," said R D Rana, one of the defence counsel for Sharma and other accused, said.

The Delhi Police's Special Investigation Team is already on its way to take Manu Manu Sharma into custody immediately.

Vikas Yadav and Amardeep Gill have been convicted under Section 201 OF IPC. The maximum sentence that they can get under this Section is up to seven years imprisonment.

Amardeep Gill, alias Tony, who was present in the court on Monday, was taken into custody immediately. Manu Sharma was not present in the court. "Arrest Manu whereever he is," the bench said, directing all the three convicts to be present on Wednesday during arguments on sentence.

The bench issued a production warrant against Vikas Yadav, who is already in judicial custody in connection with the Nitish Katara murder case.
