Police have launched a massive hunt for the psycho who stabbed three RTC bus passengers to death in the wee hours of Thursday, on the speculation that he could be somewhere in Andhra-Tamil Nadu border area.
As many as 10 Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu police teams, along with local police and forest personnel, are combing areas around Arambakum in Tamil Nadu and Varadaiahpalem in Chittor district of Andhra Pradesh since the incident came to light yesterday.
Nellore SP BV Ramana Kumar said the police are investigating the possibillity of the killer being a medical practitioner as he used a surgical knife to attack his victims in the Chennai-bound bus and aimed for vital organs like throat, lungs and heart to ensure instant death.
“We have approached the Indian Medical Association(IMA) to see if any of its members resemble the killer,” the SP said.
Forest officials too joined the search operations in Pacchavalla area after some forest personnel spotted a person resembling the killer.
Residents of Pacchavalla, Kuripakam and Chilamatturu villages in the forest area have been asked to be cautious.
Meanwhile, it is learnt the police have taken into custody a 22-year-old person, K Madhan, who was wandering under suspicious circumstances at Varadaiahpalem village, and one B Sreenu of Bhadrachalam on Friday morning.
They both were freed after preliminary inquiry revealed that they had no link with the incident.
Sources said the police are planning to release the sketch of the accused based on the details provided by the bus driver and passengers during enquiry.
“We got some crucial information about accused and are confident that we will nab him soon,” Ramana Kumar said.
