Metro accident: Gammon to compensate victims' families
Six employees died when Metro bridge collapsed on Sunday.

New Delhi: Mumbai-based Gammon Infrastructure on Monday said it will pay compensation to the families of all the six employees, who were killed when an under-construction bridge of the Delhi Metro collapsed on Sunday.

“We will pay compensation to all the six employees who were killed. Whether we will demand compensation from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will be decided in a day or two,” Gammon Infrastructure Vice President Business Development Ramakrishna Telang told PTI.

He declined to divulge the amount of compensation the company has decided to pay.

The portion that collapsed was part of an elevated section of a new Metro route between the Central Secretariat and Badarpur section. It was being constructed by Gammon Infrastructure.

Fifteen people were injured in the mishap. The Delhi Metro blamed the accident to the problem in the design of pillar.
