New Delhi: Indian-born fashion designer Anand Jon has been slapped with yet anther set of sexual abuse charges. After being charged last month with multiple counts of rape, Jon was released only on Monday by an immigration court.
Now, 12 fresh charges have been filed against him by California prosecutors at the Beverly hills court. The designer who was first arrested by the Beverly Hills Police on March 6, now faces 33 felonies and misdemeanors charges, ranging from rape and sexual battery to committing a lewd act on a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor by giving her liquor, authorities said.
According to Reuters, Jon, who has appeared on America's Top Model and was known to hang out with Paris Hilton, is now charged with a total of 32 counts involving sexual assaults on 12 victims.
The girls range in age from 14 to 23 and are all said to have ties to the fashion industry. During Jon's arraignment in Beverly Hills, Deputy District Attorney Mara McIlvain told the court, "It's violent. It's sexual offenses against younger female victims. It's a pattern of conduct that is like a serial sex offender."
It seems like a world apart for Jon, who Newsweek touted last year as someone to watch in 2007. He has been the subject of articles in magazines such as People and Star. He was initially charged with seven counts, including forcible rape, lewd acts upon a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, sexual battery by restraint and attempted forcible oral copulation. Those charges involved three alleged victims, including a 15-year-old.
