BANGALORE: The High Court on Monday refused to grant anticipatory bail to five BBMP officials—B G Prakash Kumar, M Prabhu, C A Shivappa, Keera Naik and Ramesh, accused in the multicrore bogus bill scam.The accused approached the Court after a lower court rejected anticipatory bail filed by 13 Palike officials on the grounds that the investigation of the scam was still under progress. The FIR was filed against them by the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) in connection with the alleged irregularities in three divisions - Gandhinagar, Rajarajeshwari and Malleswaram. The scam was estimated at `1,540 crore. CID sleuths are now investigating the case. After the investigation was handed over to the CID, Executive Engineer Idiya Vendon was arrested. The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force had registered a FIR and it was found that the officials had indulged in forgery of work code and also clearing bills for work which were not completed.
