Mumbai: Mumbai Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted an alleged international cricket betting racket and arrested three of its members. The accused not only used to accept bets themselves but also act as middlemen between bookies from Pakistan, Dubai and India.

Acting on a tip-off on Tuesday that one Ramesh Vyas and his accomplices accepted bets on the ongoing IPL cricket matches and connect the calls from Pakistan and Dubai to bookies in India, police raided Lalwani Mansion building in South Mumbai and arrested Ramesh Vyas (52), Pandurang Kadam (41) and Ashok Vyas (32).

"They (accused) were accepting bets for the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday," a police official said.

Ninety-two mobile phones - of which 32 were exclusively used to get in touch with bookies in Dubai and Pakistan, 18 SIM cards, a television set and a laptop were seized from them, police said.
