Mumbai: Mumbai resident Mohammed Bashir Sheikh was reportedly in contact with Lashkar-e-Toiba operatives Tahawwur Hussain Rana and David Coleman Headley.
He, however, denied knowing terror suspect Headley personally, but has said that he did meet Rana seven to eight times.
Sheikh reportedly first met Rana while he was a cab driver in US in connection with his application for immigration to Canada.
"I had given my papers to Tahawwur Rana in 2002 for immigration while I was working in US as a driver. I wanted citizenship of either US or Canada. In 2005 I decided to return to India. I was not deported. I have gone to Rana's immigration office in Worli thrice for interview purposes. While I was in touch with Rana and Headley, I had no clue that they were involved in terrorist activities," said Sheikh.
"I have given all the details and documents to NIA. If I had any role in their activities, then I would have been arrested and not been roaming freely," he said.
Sources say in Headley and Rana's ads in newspapers for their firm, Sheikh's name had been mentioned as the contact person.
Sheikh reportedly booked a room in a guesthouse for Headley near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai.
