New Delhi: Cargo ship MV Suez, released by Somali pirates earlier this week, will not reach Oman on Saturday, as it has run out of fuel, ship Captain Syed Wasi Hasan told CNN-IBN.

MV Suez with PNS Babur escorting it is enroute to Oman and was expected to reach the port by Saturday. The 22-member crew including six Indians, four Pakistanis, one Sri Lankan and 11 Egyptian nationals will disembark and travel to Muscat after reaching Oman. From Muscat, the crew members will be flown back to their respective countries by air.

Earlier, on Saturday, a diplomatic spat came up with India and Pakistan exchanging sharp words on an alleged incident in connection to the cargo ship MV Suez released by Somali pirates.

Pakistan claimed that India's INS Godavari, sent to escort MV Suez to Oman, brushed the side of the Pakistani Navy's PNS Babur, which was escorting the merchant vessel.

In its protest to the Indian government, Pakistan said that the Indian ship undertook dangerous manoeuvres, hampered humanitarian operations, and violated international regulations and a bilateral pact.

Earlier, in a controversial move, the Indian Navy pulled out the warship INS Godavari that was sent to escort the cargo vessel to Salalah and ward off further attacks.

The Navy took the decision claiming the Suez refused contact.

But sailor Ravinder Singh who is on board the freed ship denied receiving any communication from the Indian Navy.

He told CNN-IBN that only the Pakistan Navy's Babur was escorting the Suez.
