HYDERABAD: Suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy along with another TDP legislator K Harishwar Reddy called on governor ESL Narasimhan and requested him to ensure that their resignations, submitted to the Assembly Speaker, are accepted. In a memorandum submitted to the governor on Saturday, they said: “Despite our repeated requests the Speaker has not accepted our resignations. It is appalling to see the Speaker resorting to evasive tactics just to avoid accepting our resignations. It is the prerogative and constitutional right of an MLA to resign as per democratic norms.” They requested the governor to address the resignations issue with all seriousness. The governor should ensure that people heading high office in the state function in accordance with the law of the land, they said. They also informed the governor that the unabated suicides by the youth were actually because of the lack of confidence in the political parties and the political leaders. “In view of the deteriorating political atmosphere, the people of Telangana have been demanding the resignations of the elected representatives,” they said.Though the youth are restless, they have been showing lot of restraint. The law and order situation never went out of control in the T-region, they said in the memorandum.“The agitators in Telangana only gave up their lives and not resorted to any violence. There is not a single incident of any harm being meted out to any person residing in the 10 districts of Telangana,” they said.
