HYDERABAD: Former Union minister A Narendra and former MLAs M Satyanarayana Reddy and M Kishan Rao, along with several activists of different political parties, joined the BJP in the presence of its vice-president and in-charge of state party affairs Purushottam Rupal at the state party headquarters here on Monday.Welcoming them into the party, Rupal called upon BJP activists to strengthen the party in the state by inviting the rank and file of all political parties to support the BJP in the country which was the need of the hour.He accused the Congressled UPA government of failure on all fronts and corrupt rule.“The image of the UPA government has gone down and yet it imposed additional financial burden on the common man by increasing the prices of all essential commodities and petroleum products. The Congress-led UPA does not, therefore, have any right to continue in power and people will replace it with the BJP-led NDA in the coming elections,” Rupal said.He said the BJP would launch a campaign in Andhra Pradesh to expose the `misdeeds and administrative failure’ of the central and state government.Though the Congress was in power at the Centre and in the state, the state government was unable to get any financial assistance from the central government, he said and recalled that when the state was rocked by natural calamities, the Centre did not extend additional financial support to it. Rupal, curiously, refrained from referring to the Telangana demand.Narendra and others, who went in a procession to the BJP office, made it clear that they were not aspiring to positions in the party but were committed to strengthen the party in every corner of the state. BJP national secretary K Laxman, state unit chief G Kishan Reddy, former Union minister B.Dattatreya and some other leaders spoke.
