Bharti Arora is returning to Gurgaon as supervising officer against cow slaughter and cattle smuggling, eight months after she was transferred following a bitter, public spat with police commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk.

Arora, a joint commissioner when she departed last October, was on Tuesday appointed supervising officer of teams formed in all districts of Haryana to check cow slaughter and smuggling. She will be stationed in Bhondsi, where the headquarters for this new police vertical has been set up. Under her watch will be a 300 strong team, among them 60 non-gazetted government officers and 220 policemen.

2.) Woman stays with son's body for 4 days

A 60-year-old woman had been staying with the body of her son for four days at her house in Kali Bari Marg.

Ramdulari and her son Kapil (32) had been staying at the ground floor of a central government flat. Her husband used to work in the Indian Railways and died a year ago. Her three daughters were all married and staying in Uttam Nagar and elsewhere in NCR. The daughters used to visit regularly on weekends as Kapil fell ill due to excessive drinking.

On Monday afternoon, neighbours informed one of the daughters about stench coming from the house. When she arrived, she saw Kapil's badly decomposed body lying on his bed.

3.) Modi Cabinet expansion: Dropped minister says his supporters ‘angry’, another says performance not the reason

On a day five ministers were dropped from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s council of ministers, one of those dropped was “surprised”, supporters of another were “angry”, and a third claimed to have stepped down “voluntarily”.

Expressing “surprise” over the decision, Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Nihal Chand Meghwal on Tuesday swore that performance was not the reason behind it. Ram Shankar Katheria, who was junior minister in the HRD Ministry, said BJP president Amit Shah had asked him to work for party organisation.

4.) AAP apologises for comparing manifesto with Sikh holy book

Caught in a political storm for hurting religious sentiments, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday apologised for comparing its youth manifesto with the Sikh holy book, Guru Granth Sahib.

The party also apologised for superimposing the picture of its symbol, the broom, on a photo of the Golden Temple on the manifesto’s cover. AAP spokesman Ashish Khetan told reporters in Khanna, 36 km from Ludhiana, that he had no intention of hurting anyone’s sentiments at the launch of the manifesto in Amritsar on Sunday.

5.) 'Indian' Status for Hindu, Sikh refugees soon

India is readying to grant citizenship to Hindus and Sikhs who have sought refuge in the country from religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan.

The home ministry plans to seek cabinet approval ahead of the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, which starts on July 18, to its proposal to empower district magistrates to grant citizenship to such immigrants, officials said.

As per the Cabinet note, the ministry has proposed that those who belong to the minority communities in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan and have been staying in India on a long-term visa be allowed to buy property, open bank accounts and obtain Permanent Account Number as well as Aadhaar card.

7.) Delhi: Paralysed 30 yrs ago, cop says he never felt ‘physically challenged’

Sixty-year-old Nathu Singh retired on June 30 from Delhi Police. His retirement came with an honour, as he served the force with pride and dedication despite getting paralysed in his right leg in an accident that took place 30 years ago, while he was on duty.

Singh says that in the many years of his service, he never felt like a physically challenged person. Posted at Tughlak Road police station as a record room operator, he has witnessed many cases under the jurisdiction of this police station, including the assassination of Indira Gandhi, attack on an Israel embassy diplomat, the death of Union minister Gopinath Munde, protests around 7RCR over the December 16 gangrape and AAP workers’ daily struggle with the police and detention at the police station.

8.) Hyderabad IS module was told to use `rival' Qaida's mobile encryption software

Even though al-Qaida and the Islamic State (IS) are often portrayed as rivals, probe by Indian agencies against IS's Hyderabad module showed how a tool developed by one is coming in handy for the other.

The handler of the Mohammad Ibrahim Yazdani-led IS module, who claimed he was in daily contact with IS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, told the Indian members to use mobile based encryption software programme Amn al-Mujahid (security for mujahid) for interactions as it made the chats secure and impossible for intelligence agencies to track, said sources. Amn al-Mujahid was reportedly developed by al-Qaida's exclusive online distributor Al Fajr Media Centre for use by its jihadis.

9.) Hyderabad: Stockbroker kills Congolese wife, tries to burn chopped body parts

A 36-year-old stockbroker has been arrested by the Cyberabad Police for allegedly killing his wife, hacking the body into pieces and trying to burn them in a field near Shamshabad on Monday night.

The accused, Rupesh Kumar Mohanani, husband of Cynthia Vechel, a Congolese national, was arrested while trying to flee from the spot.

According to the police, Rupesh dumped the body parts, stuffed in a suitcase, at the site and set them on fire after pouring petrol over it. He did this while making his seven-year-old daughter wait in the car, said the police. Later, he was forced to seek help from villagers after his vehicle got stuck in slush while trying to get away. Police officials said the locals noticed bloodstains on the vehicle and alerted the police. They did not allow Rupesh to leave till the police arrived.

10.) Man takes car on rent, sells it, steals it same night

Mintoo Kumar, 28, a BCA graduate, took a car on rent, sold it on a e-commerce site posing as the car owner and then stole it the same night from its new owner.

Last week, police received information at the Dwarka sector 23 station about a car theft. The policeoncheckingthecar’srecord wereperplexedbecausethedetails given by the owner belonged to a differentMahindraXUVcarof the same colour belonging to a Delhi resident.

Explaining the sequence of events, an officer said,“The owner was not lying. He had bought the car through the site.It was stolen the same night. Initially we thought he was sold a stolen vehicle but later we suspected the seller may have stolen the same car from the new owner. We registered a case and began probe ,” said an officer.
