BANGALORE: The state government’s plan to hand over 10,000 acres of horticulture farm and develop with private participation has hit a road-block as stringent conditions imposed by the government have led to the bidders cold shouldering the proposal, said Horticulture Minister SA Ravindranath. He told reporters here on Thursday that the government had identified 19 horticulture farms of over 10,000 acres to develop scientifically and increase productivity under the PPP model and had invited corporate companies to come forward to accept the proposal. He said that to sail through the proposal they floated the Karnataka State Horticulture Development Agency, a special purpose vehicle, to guide the department. He said that 14 bidders had shown interest in the government’s proposal and had submitted their ‘expression of interest’.When KSHA finalised the conditions, which included imparting training and transfer technology to neighbouring farmers and ban on converting the farms on any other purposes, the bidders turned their backs.
