MADURAI: The 45th Convocation of the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) was held here on Wednesday without a Vice-Chancellor, as the post of the V-C is remaining vacant for the past one year. A search panel has already been constituted and it is in the process of finalising the list of the candidates to be recommended to the Chancellor, the Governor of Tamil Nadu.Meanwhile, T S Sridhar, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Higher Education and Convenor, Syndicate committee, MKU, presented the report on the achievements of the university since the last convocation. The first Government aided constituent college of the university was established in Mettamalai near Sattur in Virudhunagar district, he said in the report. “The District Collector has allotted 12 acres in which the building for it will be constructed” he added. It is proposed to establish a Centre for Indo-China Studies and language lab in addition to the faculty and students exchange between India and China.
