CHENNAI: An MTC driver, who was denied job from December 27, 2011, moved the Madras High Court and Justice K Chandru has ordered notice to the GM, Tondiarpet branch manager and to a conductor, who was the controller of the depot. According to advocate RY George Williams, K Muralai, who had put in 20 years service as a driver, took route No 44C bus from Broadway terminus to IOC at 6.20 a m on December 9, last year. A 68-year-old woman passenger, who lost balance, slipped from her seat, fell down inside the bus and sustained head injuries. Immediately, she was taken to the Stanley hospital and necessary treatment was given. The woman admitted that she accidentally fell down and did not lodge any complaint with the police.But, the Elephant Gate police filed a case and held a probe. Jayakumar, a conductor, who became the controller of the depot, as he was politically influential, orally refused work to the petitioner from December 27. It was an act of victimisation as the petitioner was a member of the newly started TN Arasu Netaji Pokkuvarathu Thozhilalargal Pathukappu Sangam, Williams contended and prayed for a direction to the MTC to consider the representation dated Dec 27, provide duty, salary and take action against the branch manager and Jayakumar.
