The dream of ‘One Nation, One Grid’ will become a reality with the completion of the transmission lines linking Sholapur in Maharashtra to Raichur in Karnataka and Kolhapur in Maharashtra to Narendra in Karnataka, Minister of State for Power K C Venugopal said in a statement.
The minister reviewed the progress of work on the transmission lines linking the southern grid to the national grid in Hyderabad.
Once the `2,500-crore project is completed, the power shortage faced by the southern states can be addressed to an extent, he said. Now, the transmission capacity from the Western grid to the Southern grid is 1,500 MW.
This will go up to 4,300 MW on completion of the project, he said.
