PARAVOOR: The opposition councillors of Paravoor Municipality belonging to LDF, held a march against the indifferent attitude of the UDF led council towards the implementation of various projects, inaction in getting the approval of plan fund and the failure in the utilisation of plan. According to Opposition leader K A Vidyanandan, the slackness of the municipal council in submitting the plan documents properly would badly affect the development as the code of conduct in connection with the forthcoming by-election would be in force shortly. The by-election in the 16th municipal ward would be declared shortly and this will prevent the council from introducing any schemes for about a couple of months. The development schemes would be paralysed at least for two months, Vidyanandan added. However, Municipal Chairperson Valsala Prasannakumar told Express that the allegations of the opposition councillors are baseless. “The agitation is launched by the LDF to divert the attention of the public from the fact that the plan fund would be spend on time. With the effort of the present council, Local Self Government Department has accorded sanction for `2.50 crore. Steps are already taken to implement the schemes on a war-footing. The council meeting in this regard would be held on Wednesday, developmental seminar would be convened on Thursday and the same would be approved on Friday.” The LDF councillors staged a dharna at the municipal office the other day.
