HYDERABAD: The Osmania University Joint Action Committee has split once again with two more student unions dissociating from it.
The OUJAC, which came into existence in November 2009 during the separate Telangana movement, has split several times since its inception with leaders of various student unions having separate ideologies differing on various issues related to the movement and forming three separate JACs. All the JACs claim themselves to be the genuine and original JAC and each charting its own course and carrying out its own programmes all these days. The fresh rift came on Thursday when two student unions, Bahujan Student Front (BSF) and Telangana Vidyarthi Sangham (TVS), represented by their leaders Pidamarthi Ravi and Rajaram Yadav respectively, came out of the joint action committee.
"We have ideological differences with the two unions and we will take up agitation on our own,'' P Kailash, a spokesman of OUJAC, said. He claimed that more than 10 student unions, including the Telangana Rashtra Samiti Vidyarthi Vibhagam (TRSV), the student wing of TRS, were with them.Meanwhile, the JAC represented by TRSV and other unions announced their future course of action. It called for boycott of classes across the region on December 3 to protest against foisting of cases on TRS Politburo member Cheruku Sudhakar. Similarly, observance of Pratigya Divas on the same day when they will take an oath not to commit suicide for separate Telangana. The day coincides with the suicide of Srikantha Chary at LB Nagar for separate Telangana. Students will stage a dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on December 9, which they will observe as betrayal day in protest against UPA government's retraction from its December 9 statement, Kailash said.
