Ousted PM Thaksin jumps bail, flees Thailand
Ousted Thai premier Thaksin and wife Pojaman now face graft charges.

Thai Supreme court has issued an arrest warrant against ousted Thai Premier Thakshin Shinawatra and his wife after they failed to appear in a Bangkok court.

The couple has skipped bail. Thakshin confirmed they will stay in England and not return to Thailand as he does not expect fair trial at home. The Billionaire Telecom tycoon turned politician has not asked for asylum in UK yet.

Thakshin and his wife are facing corruption charges after he was overthrown by the military in 2006. Reports from Bangkok suggest the Thai government could ask for his extradition.

Thaksin and his wife Pojaman were in Beijing for the Olympics opening ceremony. From there the couple flew to England.

Pojaman was convicted on July 31 of tax evasion and released on bail. They had travelled abroad on a special permission from the courts.

The Thai courts had ordered the duo to appear before the Supreme Court on Monday to defend themselves in a separate property case.
