The Maoists enquired from the villagers about their problems and called upon them to fight for their legitimate rights while assuring them of their support. As the extremists intensified their movement, all the shopkeepers and business establishments at Ulunda market downed shutters in the evening while vendors at Metakani Temple closed shops from afternoon. With Birmaharajpur sub-division having a good green cover to help them in their movement and the sub-division deprived of basic amenities, it is said the Maoists have found the district a fertile ground.
