KOTTAYAM: In a major decision, the Academic Council of Mahatma Gandhi University on Saturday gave nod to the post-graduate students to write all their examinations in Malayalam.Research dissertations can also be submitted in Malayalam. This will be applicable from next academic year. The proposal came up for discussion at the Council meet following the continuous efforts taken by PG Teachers Council president P G Abraham Thomas for the past 20 years. Vice-Chancellor Rajan Gurukkal, who presided over the meeting, said the move would give an impetus to generate seminal writings in various branches of studies. The council also recommended the Syndicate to confer doctorate on C N R Rao, world-renowned material chemist and Scientific Advisory Council chairman to the Prime Minister. The Council authorised the Vice-Chancellor to resolve the issues with regard to the out-going batch of BSc (Nursing) students under the School of Medical Education with respect to the internship clause clashing with their employment opportunities.
