CHENNAI: A writ plea has been made in the Madras High Court for a direction to probe unnecessary and wasteful expenditure incurred by the TN Electricity Board and other agencies of the government during 2006-11.The first Bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam, before which the public interest writ petition from R Varaaki of Iyyappanthangal came up last week, ordered notice to the government returnable in four weeks.Petitioner submitted that between 2006-11, the TNEB suffered a heavy loss of about `5,000 crore due to purchase of coal and meters at a higher price.
