DD Urdu will be the 19th satellite channel of DD targeting audience from Kashmir to Uttar Pradesh, Bengal to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and beyond.

Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati, K S Sarma, said, "DD Urdu will fulfill the cultural, literary and social aspirations of Urdu speaking people, who are spread out across the country."

The programmes will be a mix of news and current affairs, serials, documentaries, film and talk shows.
