Preity's over with IPL, back to films
Preity's over with IPL, back to films
Tracing her journey from season one to three...

Recently, Preity wrote on her twitter page, “This year is special! I have learnt more about myself than ever in the past. I learnt to accept failure with a smile and (with) my head held high.” This sort of sums up the real woman, off screen, isn't it?

Back to Bollywood:

She was out there with her cricket team at all the venues, supporting them, cheering them. Content with whatever she has achieved so far during IPL season 3, the effervescent actress has now decided to focus on what she does best, acting.

SRK connection:

Uncanny it may sound, but Preity Zinta not only started her film career with Shah Rukh Khan in Dil Se, but also began her IPL sojourn with him. They along with Shilpa Shetty were the only trio among the Bollywood fraternity to buy an IPL franchise, adding enough glam quotient to the game.

IPL Vs films:

Kings 11 Punjab made a good start in the first season of IPL as they finished at third place. But still, there was no news about Preity's upcoming films. That year (2008), she only had one release i.e Heroes.

Missing in action:

Preity Zinta was gradually disappearing from the film circuit after she jointly bought the IPL team with her the then beau Ness Wadia. The actress made sure she was visible at every match during the second season of IPL.

IPL for Preity Zinta wasn't really a joy ride. Rumors mills were abuzz churning out stories on Preity-Ness breakup. The reason being the actress's growing proximity with star batsman Yuvraj Singh, captain of her team, Kings 11 Punjab. Preity was also spotted with him on several occasions at parties post-match.

Also, there were reports about Ness having fights with police officials, may be a sign that he couldn’t handle the break up. Later, Preity came out in the open and confirmed about her end of relationship with Ness.

Disappearing act:

When people thought Preity would be nursing her wounds, she surprised all by appearing in an item song in Salman-Kareena starrer, Main Aur Mrs Khanna (2009). Just when it seemed that actress is back with a bang, she disappeared again.

There were unconfirmed reports that Preity Zinta went to rehab in America to get rid of her cocaine addiction. With the beginning of IPL season 3, she was back looking as gorgeous as ever. She had lost a few kilos and looked fresh, looking forward to the game once again.

Better and improved Preity:

What was prominent during IPL 3 was that she maintained a safe distance with the players. One could see her enjoying the matches from the VIP stand waving her Kings 11 flag. The actress also showed her religious side by recently going to Haridwar with her mother and taking a dip in the Ganges to get rid of the jinx. And guess what? The team started performing well ever since.

Preity-Yuvi fallout

In the latest season of IPL, Yuvi was stripped off his captaincy and the responsibility was given to Srilankan wicket-keeper batsman, Kumar Sangakara. This triggered sparks about Yuvi having a fallout with Preity and other co-owners of the team. Apparently, Yuvi's contract expires with the end of this season and only time will tell which IPL jersey he will wear next.

Brett Lee-Preity controversy:

Australian cricketer Brett Lee shares a "strictly professional" relationship with Bollywood actress Priety Zinta, says Lee's manager Neil Maxwell, dismissing as 'false' the reports of an alleged link-up.

There were rumours when the bowler, who is a member of Preity's Kings XI Punjab team, looked at ease with the actress at an Indian Premiere League (IPL) cricket party.

Lee's manager Neil Maxwell has slammed the reports and Monday said that the cricketer's relationship with Priety was strictly professional, adding that the pair had been friends for years, Dailytelegraph.com.au reports.

"Brett presented her with an acting award in England some years ago and they've been friends since. She is a very intelligent lady and very nice too," said Maxwell.

Back to the grind:

The actress has expressed her desire to be a part of films and is willing to hear new scripts. Kings 11 Punjab has done terrible this season. Let's hope we get to see more of Preity Zinta on silver screen and less on the cricket field.
