PUDUCHERRY: Senior superintendent of police V J Chandran, who took charge of law and order, has asked the officials and personnel of the police department to ensure the implementation of the Puducherry Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act, 2008 in the Union Territory. He told reporters here on Wednesday that he had asked the police officials at the various police stations to prepare the list of anti-social elements, adding that they could be booked under the Act. He said an advisory committee would be set up with judge (retired from High Court, Madras) P Thangavel as the head, and P George and D K Venugopalu (both retired judges) as members, for the effective implementation of the Act. The SSP (L & O) had already warned the anti-social elements that the police would act sternly if they resorted to any kind of anti-social activity.
