Guna (Madhya Pradesh): As Bharatiya Janata Party workers are busy rejoicing President elect Ramnath Kovind's victory, the celebrations are continuing in a small locality in Guna in Madhya Pradesh as well.
This locality has the residence of Kovind's elder brother Ramswaroop Bharti who has been living in Guna for four and a half decades.
"This is a moment to cherish, I am short of words to explain my feelings," Ramswaroop told newsmen after his younger brother was adjudged victorious in the election for the highest constitutional office in India.
Soon after celebrations were unlashed with beating of drums, dance and sweets as almost entire city poured in greetings on the Kovind family which resides in Hanuman Colony. Three months ago, Ramnath Kovind had paid a visit to the city at his elder brother's insistence.
Ramswaroop, who completed his services as an Accountant with Department of Public Health Engineering in the past, has settled in Guna. Ramswaroop identifies Kovind as a disciplined RSS worker and recounts how his brother used to enjoy the tonga ride whenever he visited the town to meet him.
However Prakash Mahavar Koli, an office bearer of Koli community from Indore also claimed that Kovid visited Indore a number of times and cutting across political lines paired up with Ujjain Congress leader Satyanarayan Panwar for uniting the Koli community across the country.
"He had convened a district convention of the community as national general secretary of All India Koli Community in 1987-88," recounts Koli, adding despite being a staunch BJP/RSS functionary, he kept politics apart from his social endeavours."
He claimed that Kovind had brought laurels to the community with his win.
