Scores of PhD aspirants in Tumkur University staged a protest against the authorities for imposing English in the entrance test, here on Sunday. The aspirants from rural background were shocked when they received the question papers in English and instructed to write the examination in the same. When they asked the invigilators, they were told to follow the instructions.
Registrar D Shivalingaiah told them they had no other option. Annoyed over this, the aspirants walked out of the hall and shouted slogans against the varsity.
Student leader Shivakumar told Express that the varsity which has no Post Graduate Department, had called for hD programme.
The police visited the spot and took measures to control the protestors.
