KOCHI: If all goes well, Kochi can be free from water woes within two years. The Aluva Pump House which supplies water to the entire city is undergoing renovation.The 14-crore project, which is funded by the Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project(KSUDP), is sticking to its time schedule. According to a KSUDP official, around 15 per cent of the work has been completed since its commencement earlier this year. The project includes renovation of the pumping head and replacement of old pumps and filter media.Earlier reports had stated that the water supply to Kochi is almost 50 per cent lesser than the required amount.The authorities concerned are optimistic that the renovation project will ensure uninterrupted supply of potable water to the city.
