Pune: The course of investigation into the serial blasts case was affected due to poor quality of CCTV cameras installed in the various shops on J M Road. Four low-intensity blasts had disrupted life on J M Road on August 1.
“Much of the CCTV footage, which has been collected from various shops and hotels after the four low-intensity blasts took place on J M Road, is of no use as the resolution of the CCTV cameras was poor and because of this the investigators are finding it difficult to investigate further,” Commissioner of Police Gulabrao Pol said.
Pol said some of the CCTV cameras on J M Road were in switched off mode. He said rain affected the quality of footage, and the police officials appealed to the shop and the hotel owners to install better quality CCTV cameras. Speaking about the Dahi Handi festival, which will be celebrated in the city today, Pol appealed all the mandals in the city not to celebrate the festival in middle of the road.
“Against the backdrop of serial blasts, we appeal the members of all the Dahi Handi mandals not to occupy main roads. We also appeal the mandals to install CCTV cameras, temporarily, at their respective venues,” Pol said. Pol also reiterated that deadline to play music was till 10 pm, and if anybody found playing music beyond the prescribed time, action would be initiated against that person.
