Mumbai: In the run up to the Lok Sabha polls, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is all set to hold a conclave in Pune on Sunday. The event will be chaired by party supremo Raj Thackeray and it is expected that he will raise the matter of road tax and outline his party's plan for taking forward its toll agitation across the state.

Nearly 25 MNS workers were detained and party chief Raj Thackeray was booked for vandalising the toll plazas across the state.

The activists went on a rampage across Maharashtra, destroying toll booths in at least eight cities, including Mumbai, Thane and Nagpur.

The incident was preceded by a provocative speech by Raj Thackeray who asked his party workers to not pay the toll fee.

"I am instructing all MNS workers, colleagues and people not to pay toll at any toll booth in Maharashtra from now on. If someone opposes you, fight with them," he had said.

The government took a suo motu cognizance of the matter and served a recovery notice to the party.

According to sources, activists involved in vandalizing four toll booths in Mumbai have been asked to pay Rs 3.90 lakh as damages and have been summoned to appear before the District Collector.
