Rajnath ratified as BJP President
Ratification of newly elected President by the National Council is mandatory according to party's constitution.

New Delhi: The BJP National Council on Saturday ratified Rajnath Singh election as President of the party for a three-year term.

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and leaders of Opposition in Parliament L K Advani and Jaswant Singh along with party workers congratulated him on the occasion in Lucknow.

Party's Chief Returning Officer O P Kohli declared Singh as the party's President for a full term as there were 15 sets of nomination papers all in support of Singh's candidature.

Delivering the presidential address after being formally ratified as the party chief for the next three years by the National Council here, Singh underlined the importance of Uttar Pradesh, which sends 80 members to the Lok Sabha.

Singh also emphasised the need to maintain 'mutual trust' saying that there should be no 'violation' of dignity and decorum while conducting oneself in the party.
