BANGALORE: Principal Secretary to Government S M Jaamdar who was present in the High Court on Thursday defended his decision to transfer H N S Rao as ADGP (Karnataka Lokayukta) from ADGP (crime). He added that Rao was only transferred but not promoted. The High Court had on August 24 disposed of a petition challenging the non-execution of summons to former minister G Janardhana Reddy, which was issued by the Sandur JMFC court nine times with direction to initiate action against the police officers who failed to execute the summons. Among those involved, constable Satyanarayana and PSI Umesh have been suspended. Additional Superintendent of Police Turai, DySP Kudalgi and SP Nagraj remained evasive. Responsibility has also been fixed on then IGP (Eastern Range) H N Satyanarayana Rao and then DG and IGP Ajai Kumar Singh who were allegedly silent on the matter. Jaamdar had filed a report stating that the police lied about his presence in Bellary and has held them responsible for perjury and misleading the judicial proceedings. Action was promised against all police officers involved. The court was told that permission would be sought for action against officers who were not under the state government. Later, advocate G R Mohan issued a legal notice that the promise to the court remained unfulfilled. In reply, Jaamdar said that a joint departmental enquiry has been initiated against five police officers.Jaamdar, in a letter, noted that Rao has not been promoted further.
