REPUBLIC DAY 2024: India will mark its 75th Republic Day on Friday, January 26. This day commemorates India’s shift to a republic with the adoption of its constitution on January 26, 1950. President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to deliver her annual speech on Thursday, January 25. The address, akin to the previous year, is expected to be broadcast in Hindi and English across all Doordarshan channels and aired on All India Radio (AIR) starting at 7 pm. Furthermore, the speech will be made available in regional languages through Doordarshan’s regional channels. The theme for the 2024 Republic Day is “India – Mother of Democracy” and “Viksit Bharat.”

For those interested in listening to the speeches in state languages, tuning in to AIR’s regional streams from 9:30 pm is recommended. Additionally, Doordarshan’s YouTube channel will provide a live stream of the president’s address. Following this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the nation on the morning of January 26.
President’s Address To The Nation
In July 2022, Murmu made history by becoming the first tribal woman to hold India’s highest constitutional post. Murmu, India’s second woman president, delivered an elaborate speech on the eve of Independence Day last year.
She paid tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar and other Constituent Assembly members who helped draft India’s constitution. She praised the Modi government’s initiatives, such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Digital India. President Murmu also mentioned gender inequality in India.
This year, President Droupadi Murmu is expected to highlight some of the creditable achievements of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government in her Republic Day address.
75th Republic Day
Every year on Republic Day, the Prime Minister of India joins the President, Vice President, various Central Ministers, and other dignitaries in attending the Republic Day Parade. Army personnel will march in a precise and synchronised manner, accompanied by eye-catching displays of armoured vehicles and fighter jets flying overhead.
